Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY Scheme) is one of the most productive schemes started by the Government of India under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE). PMKVY skill certification program focused on enabling the Indian youth to join industry-based skill training for becoming more employable. This program will entertain individuals who are trying to enter their feet into the industry as well as individuals with the prior learning experience. Candidates with prior skills or experience will be assessed and certified under Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Interested person can choose any of the course listed under the PMKVY scheme on the basis of eligibility criteria.
The scheme is now further approved as PMKVY 2.0 for the period of 2016-2020. The motive is to provide skill-based training as well as provide placement opportunities to trained candidates. It also aims to provide support for entrepreneurship development for those who aspire to be an entrepreneur. Training under PMKVY scheme is provided in accordance with National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF). This training program will be strictly monitored as per the guidelines enforced by National Skill Development Corporation India (NSDC). Indian nationals can take up any of the course listed under the PMKVY scheme for free of cost.
PMKVY Scheme Objective

Key Components of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY Scheme)
PMKVY scheme covers following key components which are involved during the different phases of the program.
- Short-Term Training-The skilled based training expected to benefit youth of India who are either school or college dropouts or those who are educated bust still unemployed. The duration for training course varies as per job role which ranges between 150 to 300 hours.
- Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)-Candidate with a certain set of skills or prior learning experience or skill will be certified under RPL component of the PMKVY scheme. The scheme aims at increasing the competency of the unregulated workforce of India.
- Special Projects-This component of PMKVY is focused on the creation of a platform to provide training on special places such as campuses of government bodies, industrial bodies, and offering training for special job roles not defined under the qualification Pack (QP) or National Occupational Standards (NOS).
- Continuous Monitoring-Under PMKVY scheme there will continuous monitoring of training centres providing the courses. There will be the use of a set of methodologies including self-audit reporting, surprise visits, call validations, etc. This process monitoring process will be followed to ensure smooth functioning of the PMKVY program.
- Placement Assistance-PMKVY scheme will create employment opportunities for candidates who complete their training under this scheme. Training centres are required to put extra efforts to provide job opportunities to trained candidates. Training partners will support aspirants in entrepreneurship development program.
- Kaushal and Rozgar Mela-Active participation of the community is a crucial factor in the progress of PMKVY scheme. Under this process, training partners will need to conduct rozgar melas after every six months. The rozgar melas would be an ideal way to provide employment opportunities to candidates completing training under PMKVY scheme.
